Considering even my own backyard – Poland – the latest statement from my country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs sounds like: 'Poles would sooner eat grass than become a Russian colony.' The thing is, he forgot to add that Poland is already a colony – an American one – and we are paying horrendous amounts of money for it. Ordinary Poles are noticing this more and more, knowing that gas imported from the other side of the world costs three times more than what Hungary gets from Russia. The same goes for electricity, which in Hungary is largely generated from Russian nuclear power and is also about three times cheaper than in Poland.
This is the same Poland that doesn't even have a single nuclear power plant and is economically bleeding itself dry for Ukraine (the same Ukraine that, while in a state of war, is building its fifth nuclear power plant...), acting as a great defender of morality and leader of the anti-Russian bloc. I don’t understand why this special operation, now peoples war, is being conducted in the manner it is ie long and drawn out as if to kill as much people possible on both sides.
I mean, all Western countries are experiencing demographic decline. The exception being Israel, but I don’t consider them Western in any traditional sense.
Now on one hand, I do see the failure of shock and awe tactics in the sense of occupying a defeated country and then having to fight an insurgent war based on guerrilla style tactics, which is a form of organized terrorism. Perhaps to the money lenders and politicians who reign over these territories from 100’s, if not 1000’s of miles away, this is a small price to pay but I value life over economic goals and profits.
Now on the other hand, playing the long game and killing 100’s of thousands if not millions of soldiers makes the occupation or integration of a territory much easier because you killed most of the people who would be a security risk as the territory is being absorbed, but at what expense?
If we look back in history we will find that WWI for example, especially in the Russian case, killed off that generation who was raised and assimilated into the Russian State to the point it allowed a group of Judenrat exiles funded by Judenrat capitalists from the West, to seize the state and murder off and destroy anyone and anything that represented pre-WWI Russia.

I don’t understand why this special operation, now peoples war, is being conducted in the manner it is ie long and drawn out as if to kill as much people possible on both sides.
I mean, all Western countries are experiencing demographic decline. The exception being Israel, but I don’t consider them Western in any traditional sense.
Now on one hand, I do see the failure of shock and awe tactics in the sense of occupying a defeated country and then having to fight an insurgent war based on guerrilla style tactics, which is a form of organized terrorism. Perhaps to the money lenders and politicians who reign over these territories from 100’s, if not 1000’s of miles away, this is a small price to pay but I value life over economic goals and profits.
Now on the other hand, playing the long game and killing 100’s of thousands if not millions of soldiers makes the occupation or integration of a territory much easier because you killed most of the people who would be a security risk as the territory is being absorbed, but at what expense?
If we look back in history we will find that WWI for example, especially in the Russian case, killed off that generation who was raised and assimilated into the Russian State to the point it allowed a group of Judenrat exiles funded by Judenrat capitalists from the West, to seize the state and murder off and destroy anyone and anything that represented pre-WWI Russia.
This blood letting lead to this hostile group of exiles to seize power and the rest is history. So there’s a price to pay if causalities are too high.
I don’t understand why, with all of the technology at Russias disposal, this “special operation” or this “peoples war” is being conducted in the way that it is.

I, even as a student of the 20th century communists and an American, deny the idea of any Ukrainian nation. Because that is all that nationhood has been for the Ukraine, a wistful idea of the 20th century. I see a similar and worrying but sparse idea of a “New Afrikan” national identity among my compatriots of all colors and regions.
The EU preparing for a war with Russia is absolute nonsense for several very obvious reasons:
1. It is propagated by the current bunch of cucks who’s agenda has been destroyed in Ukraine. Opposition to and war with Russia is an existential issue for these fools.
2. Said cucks will all be out of office in a few years, replaced by right wingers who are not Russophobes or at least do not see Russia as a military threat.
3. The EU lacks the military industrial base to prepare for war, to build it to even modest level would take over a decade, technology from China, agreement between themselves. None of these will ever happen.
4. The argument assumes the EU and or the European states can make unilateral decisions. They clearly cannot and are militarily a satrap of the US and an economic satrap of China. As time goes both of these facts will become more pronounced.
Dugin pretending Europe has any real agency is the other side of the threat coin. Instead of the pretence of Europe being threatened by Russia , he adopts the pretence of Russia being threatened by Europe.
Both are patently false and do not accord with the facts.
This is an important perspective and you are absolutely right that the real story is not about Zelensky or Putin, but about the deep structural transition of the world system. What I would add is that the most revealing part of the current moment is not that the West is fighting to preserve unipolarity, but that it no longer believes it can preserve it through persuasion or economic supremacy. It now depends entirely on coercion, financial weaponization and manufactured fear. That is the truest sign that the unipolar order is already in terminal decline.
In fact, the Western elite understands, far more clearly than its own populations, that time is no longer on its side. The demographic base is shrinking, industrial capacity has hollowed out, financial dominance is eroding and the political architecture is fragmenting. When an empire reaches this stage, its instinct is always the same - to freeze history and prevent the rise of alternatives. That is why the West cannot allow Russia to win, but also cannot allow Ukraine to negotiate. It needs the conflict itself to continue because the war is not about territory, it is about buying time for a system that has no future.
Where I would expand your analysis further is that the coming clash will not simply be geopolitical but ideological in a deeper civilizational sense. Europe cannot prepare for the next war until it first undergoes a cultural and political restructuring that replaces its post-1991 liberal identity with a wartime identity capable of mobilization. The elites understand this, which is why we are now seeing engineered fear narratives, energy insecurity and the revival of militaristic discourse. A defeated Ukraine serves that purpose perfectly. It provides the moral shock needed to reforge Western societies into something more obedient, more centralized and more war-ready.
And yet, this is precisely where the Western strategy will fail. Because unlike the 20th century, the rest of the world now has alternatives. Russia, China, India, Iran and the wider Global South are not passive observers. They are building new institutions, new currencies, new supply chains and new security architectures. For the first time in 500 years, the West cannot impose a global consensus, only a regional one. The real strategic shift is that multipolarity no longer needs to defeat unipolarity. It only needs to outlast it. That asymmetry favors the non-Western world completely.
This is why the war in Ukraine feels both climactic and transitional at the same time. The battlefield is local but the consequences are civilizational. Whether Europe “takes a pause” before its next attempted confrontation or not, the world that emerges during that pause will not be the one Western elites expect. By the time the West tries to re-enter the game, the global order may already have moved beyond it.
In that sense, the war in Ukraine is not the final battle of unipolarity. It is its last delaying action before the inevitable dawn of a new system. The tragedy is that Western leaders know this, yet they continue to sacrifice Ukraine in order to postpone admitting it.

Americans MUST take responsibility. Allowing the US government to disrupt the entire world in a feeble attempt to cling to empire will fall squarely and heavily upon the shoulders of each American. Sitting back and watching isn’t a solution as the world will ultimately judge us as complicit.
There are two broad paths the US can choose from, fighting to extinction or navigating a soft landing. From a Christian perspective, this equates to the sin of Pride or the virtue of Humility. If you study history, the latter is the more successful path. To make this point, let’s review how monopolies (the business equivalent of national hegemonies / empires) and examine how these two broad paths have worked out.
Lessons from 750 Years of Fallen Monopolies
Every dominant power in history eventually faces the same binary choice the United States confronts in 2025: manage a dignified retreat that preserves wealth and influence, or fight to the death and risk being broken apart by force. Corporate history is unusually clear on which path works.
From the British East India Company (1600–1858) and Dutch VOC (1602–1799) to Standard Oil (1870–1911), AT&T (1913–1982), IBM (1950s–1980s), and U.S. Steel (1901–present), the pattern is consistent. Monopolists that chose extinction-level defense were dismantled or destroyed. Those that accepted a negotiated soft landing emerged richer and more resilient than before.
The Extinction Path – Fight Until Something Breaks You
• British East India Company: After losing its trade monopoly in 1833, it doubled down on territorial rule and opium revenue. Result: the 1857 Indian Rebellion, followed by forced nationalization and erasure as a corporate entity.
• Standard Oil: Spent a decade fighting the Sherman Act in court while refusing any compromise. Result: 1911 Supreme Court dissolution into 34 pieces.
• IBM (1969–1982): Burned tens of millions and thirteen years battling the DOJ instead of adapting to the PC revolution. Came within months of a breakup order.
• AT&T (pre-1982): Used every legal trick to preserve the Bell System monopoly. Result: 1982 consent decree that shattered it into eight companies.
In every case, the hegemon believed its dominance was permanent, its rivals containable, and its political protections unbreakable. In every case, it was wrong.
The Soft-Landing Path – Retreat, Pivot, Prosper
• Post-WWII Britain: Abandoned formal empire quickly, kept the City of London, English language, Commonwealth networks, and permanent UN Security Council seat. Today the UK punches far above its weight in finance, culture, and diplomacy at a fraction of the old imperial cost.
• AT&T post-1982: The seven Baby Bells plus the “new” AT&T created more market value in twenty years than the old monopoly ever did—and unleashed the internet revolution.
• IBM post-mainframe: Pivoted to services, cloud, and open-source AI (Red Hat, watsonx). Market cap ~$220 billion in 2025; no longer the hegemon but still immensely profitable.
• U.S. Steel: Accepted gradual market-share erosion, kept tariffs when useful, and is merging with Nippon Steel in 2025. Still exists, still profitable, no longer dominant.
The soft-landing cohort all did three things:
1. They recognized the new paradigm early (PCs, container shipping, smartphones, AI, dedollarizing trade).
2. They traded absolute control for large influence in the emerging system.
3. They let go of sacred cows (empire, mainframes, integrated steel, the Bell System) before external force made the decision for them.
America’s Choice in 2025
The United States today is running the extinction playbook:
• Weaponizing the dollar against 30–40 % of global GDP,
• Export controls on advanced chips and AI models,
• $900+ billion defense budgets while maintaining 800 overseas bases,
• Subsidies and tariffs trying to reshore everything at once.
Meanwhile, competitors are executing the classic challenger strategy that toppled every previous hegemon: novel technology (China’s lead in applied AI, EVs, and 5G/6G base stations), alternative financial plumbing (CIPS, mBridge, BRICS Pay), and patient alliance-building (Belt and Road, expanded BRICS, Global South debt diplomacy).
History’s verdict is brutal but consistent. No monopoly that chose total defense survived intact. Every monopoly that managed an orderly retreat and pivoted to the next paradigm preserved (and often multiplied) its wealth and influence.
A genuine American soft landing in the 2025–2040 window would look like this:
• Accept commodity-trade dedollarization while making a digital dollar the settlement layer of choice.
• Lead in open-source and verifiable AI models instead of trying to ban China from closed ones.
• Shrink the global base network to ~200 core facilities and shift defense spending to space, cyber, and domestic infrastructure.
• Trade manufacturing market share in Vietnam, Mexico, and India for owning the IP, standards, and financial stack.
• Offer China and India real governance quotas at the IMF and World Bank in exchange for playing by updated rules—repeating the 1944 Bretton Woods bargain that locked in seventy years of American primacy.
The extinction path ends with some combination of debt crisis, military overstretch, or forced breakup of the dollar-SWIFT system by an angry world—think British East India Company, 1858 edition.
The soft-landing path ends with an America that is no longer the unipolar hegemon but remains the indispensable hub of finance, technology standards, higher education, and culture—think Britain after 1945 or AT&T after 1984.
Every fallen monopoly thought it was the exception. None were. The United States will be no different. The only question is whether Washington chooses the path that preserves American prosperity for another century, or the one that guarantees its fragmentation. My chief concern is that the US is being led by a narcissist (Trump) - a narcissist that is likely controlled by forces that are not concerned about America’s well-being. Is he capably of humbling his pride to take the right course of action for the world.
Americans must choose wisely, history is watching, and it never blinks. We can’t afford to sit on our hands. We must peacefully, but forcefully, let our voices be heard.
Interestingly, not Trumps war, not Putins war, ...., still both order death and destruction on parts of Ukraine.
